Employers' FAQs
Q1: Why should I use a recruiter instead of posting jobs myself?
Posting jobs on your own can lead to an overwhelming number of unqualified applications. Magnolia Recruitment saves you time by presenting pre-vetted, high-quality candidates who are not only qualified but also a strong cultural fit. This means faster hires, fewer bad hires, and a smoother recruitment process.

Q2: How much does it cost to hire a recruiter in BC?
Magnolia offers two flexible pricing models:
-
Contingency Recruitment – generally between 15% to 25% of the new hire's first year salary. You only pay if we place a candidate.
-
Fractional Recruiter Services – on-demand support based on an hourly rate and typically much more affordable than contingency arrangements and more flexible than having an in-house recruiter.
This ensures small and mid-sized businesses can access expert recruiting support based on their needs without overspending.

Q3: What industries and roles do you specialize in?
We focus on roles that keep businesses running smoothly: Human Resources, Marketing, Accounting, and Administration. By specializing on office/corporate roles, we deliver better matches, faster.

Q4: How long does it take to fill a role with a recruiter?
Most placements take 2–6 weeks depending on the role and availability of the hiring managers for interviews. Because we have a wide candidate network, we often fill roles faster than an in-house posting alone.

Q5: What happens if my new hire doesn’t work out?
For contingency models, we provide a placement guarantee. If a candidate leaves or doesn’t meet expectations within the guarantee period, Magnolia will replace them at no additional cost.

Q6: Do recruiters help with remote and hybrid jobs?
Yes. We recruit across onsite, hybrid, and fully remote roles, tailoring each search to your business model.

Q7: Can recruiters help small businesses that only hire occasionally?
Absolutely. Magnolia adapts to your hiring frequency and provides flexible support exactly when you need it.

Q8: I already have applicants but have no time to screen, can you help me to pick out a few suitable candidate to interview?
Yes! With our fractional recruiter services, we are able to provide support at any point of the hiring process. Just contact us to set up an initial call to get started.

Q1: Do I have to pay a recruiter to find a job in BC?
No. In BC, it’s illegal for recruiters to charge candidates for job opportunities. Employers pay our fees. Magnolia Recruitment matches candidates with clients who have active roles.
If you’d like extra help with your resume, LinkedIn, or interviews, we offer career consulting services to help you stand out.

Q3: What kinds of jobs do recruiters usually have?

Q4: How long does it take to get a job through a recruiter?
Timelines vary depending on the market and the role. Some placements happen within weeks, others take longer. To accelerate your job search, our career consulting program can refine your resume, improve your interview skills, and guide your strategy.

Q5: Can a recruiter help me switch careers?
Recruiters present candidates based on employer requirements, so career pivots aren’t always possible through recruitment alone. That’s why Magnolia offers career consulting services to help you reposition your skills and plan a transition strategy.

Q6: Will a recruiter keep me updated after I apply?
Magnolia values transparency. If your application matches an employer’s role and we invite you to have an interview, we’ll keep you updated at every stage.

Q7: Where do I find help with resume, interview prep or career transition?
You have come to the right place! Our career consultants offers career services to equip job seekers to get hired. Book a session for resume writing service, interview practice or a career consulting session for a flexible session to tackle job search/career questions and strategies.
